Civi is Lexi Software’s corporate social investment (CSI) initiative. We are independent and are not affiliated with, endorsed by or acting on behalf of the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC), any government body or any political party.

Using Civi

These terms apply when you use Civi. Civi provides public civic and electoral information to help you explore sources and compare candidates and party positions. Please use the service lawfully and respectfully. You do not need an account or to accept optional analytics to use the public information.

Information and official sources

Civi is an information service, not an election authority, government service or political campaign. We do not register voters, cast votes, issue official results or tell you whom to vote for. Inclusion, ordering or comparison of a candidate or party does not imply endorsement. Summaries, source material and ward boundaries can be incomplete, outdated or incorrect; check the linked source, its date and context before relying on it.

For official registration, voting arrangements and election results, consult the IEC. For government services, consult the responsible government body. Civi does not provide professional legal advice.

Sources, links and intellectual property

Third-party sources, names, logos and materials remain subject to their owners’ rights and applicable licences. Links help you verify information; we do not control external websites or their availability, content or privacy practices. Our own software, branding and content remain subject to applicable intellectual property rights. These terms do not grant rights to third-party material.

Contributions and corrections

Submit only relevant information and sources you are entitled to share. Do not submit identity documents, private addresses, sensitive personal information, malicious files, unlawful content or another person’s confidential information. Contributions may be reviewed, declined or removed and are not guaranteed to be published. By submitting material, you permit us to store, assess and use it to investigate corrections and, where appropriate, improve the public information, subject to third-party rights and our privacy policy.

Acceptable use and availability

Do not interfere with the service, attempt unauthorised access, impersonate others or use Civi to harass people. We may restrict abusive use and change, suspend or discontinue features. We take reasonable care but cannot promise uninterrupted availability or that every record is accurate or complete.

Responsibility and your rights

You remain responsible for decisions you make using the information. To the extent permitted by South African law, we do not accept liability for losses caused by reliance on incomplete or inaccurate third-party information or service interruptions. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limits your mandatory consumer or privacy rights.

Privacy, changes and contact

Our privacy policy explains processing and your choices. We may update these terms as the service changes and will publish the revised date here. South African law applies, subject to mandatory rights available to you. For questions or corrections, email hello@civiapp.co.za.
